# Disconnect Rust External

> Full step-by-step setup for Disconnect Rust External — prepare Windows, set up the overlay, download the loader, inject, and fix common errors.

This guide is split into clear, step-by-step sections for a smooth, successful
setup.

  To stay as safe as possible, rely mostly on ESP and only use the more obvious
  features here and there.

## 1. Getting Started

### Disable Windows Defender

  Antivirus often flags game cheats as suspicious because they inject code into
  the game to enable features like aimbot or ESP. This is normal for all cheat
  software — it is not a sign that Bypass Cheats is unsafe.

Fully disabling Defender is done with **DControl** (Defender Control). But first
you must manually turn off Defender's real-time protection — otherwise Windows
will block or delete DControl before you can run it.

  <Step title="Turn off real-time protection first">
    Open **Windows Security → Virus & threat protection → Manage settings** and
    turn off **Real-time protection** (and the other toggles). This lets you
    download and run DControl without it being blocked or deleted.

  <Step title="Install WinRAR">
    Download and install [WinRAR](https://www.win-rar.com/download.html?\&L=0).
    You need it to extract the DControl archive.

  <Step title="Download DControl">
    Download [DControl (Defender Control)](https://www.sordum.org/files/downloads.php?st-defender-control).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Extract the archive">
    Right-click the downloaded `.rar` and extract it. When asked for a password,
    enter `sordum`.

  <Step title="Disable Windows Defender">
    Open **dControl.exe** and click **Disable Windows Defender**. The window turns
    red when Defender is off.

DControl turns off real-time Defender, but a few Windows Security options are
separate. Turn these off too:

    Open **Windows Security → App & browser control → Exploit protection settings**
    and set every option to **Off by default**.

  <Step title="Turn off Reputation-based protection">
    Go to **App & browser control → Reputation-based protection settings** and
    turn off all options.

  <Step title="Turn off Memory integrity">
    Go to **Device security → Core isolation** and turn off **Memory integrity**.
    A restart may be required.

<Note>
  If DControl isn't an option for you, you can instead turn off everything under
  **Virus & threat protection → Manage settings** manually — but DControl is the
  recommended standard setup.

### Required files

Install both of these before continuing — they are mandatory dependencies:

* [Download Visual C++ Redistributable (x64)](https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x64.exe)

## 2. Set up the overlay

The external build renders through the SteelSeries overlay, so it must be
installed and running before you inject.

[Download SteelSeries GG](https://steelseries.com/gg/moments/download), then
launch it once so it runs in the background.

## 3. Download the loader

Download the loader from the link below, then run it **as administrator**:

<Note>
  Your license key is in your client area or order email — enter it in the loader
  on first launch.

## 4. Inject & launch

  <Step title="Set up BIOS (one-time)">
    Enter BIOS, **disable Secure Boot**, and set BIOS mode to **UEFI**. Save and
    reboot.

    Run the loader as administrator, then log in or register with your license key.

    Press **Inject**. If the loader says “Please launch SteelSeriesGG”, run
    SteelSeries, then continue.

  <Step title="Open Rust">
    When the loader tells you to open the game, launch Rust and start dominating.

## Common errors

Most issues are fixed with basic troubleshooting: restart your PC, re-download
the loader, and try again. Try these before contacting support.

    Disable any VPN/proxy during launch, allow the loader through your firewall,
    and run it as administrator. Re-download the loader if it persists.

  <Accordion title="Injection fails (simple fix for most issues)">
    Fully disable Defender (use DControl), turn off Memory integrity, and confirm
    Secure Boot is off / UEFI mode is set. Restart, then run the loader as admin.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="EAC: banned tool detected">
    An anti-cheat or antivirus is still active. Re-check every step in **Disable
    Windows Defender**, uninstall third-party AV, restart, and try again.

  <Accordion title="0x error codes">
    Make sure DirectX and the Visual C++ redistributable are installed, run the
    loader as administrator, and re-download it if the code persists.

  <Accordion title="Laggy / stuttering ESP">
    Cap your in-game FPS, close heavy background apps, and make sure SteelSeries
    GG is running. Lowering ESP draw distance also helps.

  <Accordion title="SteelSeries crashing">
    Reinstall SteelSeries GG, run it as administrator, and launch it before the
    loader. Make sure it's fully started before you inject.
